NCyTE’s Member Webinar on Friday, March 19, 2021, focused on how the Center partners with member schools to host local Industry Night events.
Representatives of NCyTE member institutions who were unable to attend the live webinar can log in to their NCyTE Center accounts, then watch a video of the webinar. PowerPoint slides of the presentation can be downloaded from the Member Webinar Videos web page.
Stephen Miller, one of the NCyTE Center's Co-PIs and the Professor and Director of the Eastern New Mexico University—Ruidoso Cybersecurity Center, explained how these evening events bring together educators, students, government representatives, and industry professionals to share information and conversation about the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape. Mr. Miller provided real-world examples of past Industry Night events held with NCyTE support, and described some positive outcomes.
The webinar also included a quick overview of a collection of online interactive lessons that has recently been launched on the NCyTE website as a resource for cybersecurity teachers and faculty. In the last half of the webinar, NCyTE members discussed how to prepare cybersecurity students to craft resumes and interview for job openings effectively. One approach discussed was for faculty at CAE-designated colleges to require that their students participate in the National Cybersecurity Virtual Career Fair.
