The NCyTE Member Webinar on Friday, February 19, 2021, focused on cybersecurity competitions and the role they play nationwide in helping students grow their cybersecurity skills.

Representatives of NCyTE member institutions who were unable to attend the live webinar can log in to their NCyTE Center accounts, then watch a video of the webinar.

Guest speaker Dr. Dan Manson is the commissioner and co-founder of the National Cybersecurity League (NCL), a biannual competition open to U.S. high school and college students.

Dr. Manson discussed the educational benefits of students competing as an extracurricular activity and presented short videos in which teachers and coaches described the impact of practice and competitions on their students.

In his presentation, he mentioned two recommended online resources: K12 Cybertalk, a YouTube cybersecurity news show written by high school students; and the NICE Cybersecurity Skills Competitions Community of Interest, a forum for people interested in cyber competitions.
