Faculty Development Academies
Virtual academies are funded and designed specifically for community and technical college faculty from cybersecurity and other disciplines. Academies provide participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge, earn an industry certification, and strengthen their ability to incorporate new cybersecurity content into their curriculum.
Academies vary in length, and eligible faculty may qualify for a stipend upon successful completion of some workshops. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and interactive discussions, ensuring an immersive and practical learning experience.
CMMC 2.0 Workshops
NCyTE’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 workshop is a two-day virtual workshop that covers updates to the CMMC framework that affect contractors working with the Department of Defense (DoD). Cybersecurity faculty and small business personnel are encouraged to attend.
Workshop videos are also available.
Cybersecurity Across Disciplines (CyAD) Summit
The Cybersecurity Across Disciplines (CyAD) Summit is an annual event designed to serve educators in various fields, providing an opportunity to explore how cybersecurity intersects with their specific educational program areas and the industries they serve. This brings together community and technical college faculty from diverse disciplines to address cybersecurity challenges across all business and critical infrastructure sectors including but not limited to manufacturing, healthcare, retail, engineering, and banking and finance. Visit our CyAD webpage for more information.
National Community College Cybersecurity Fellowship Program
Cybersecurity faculty are in demand nationwide! To address this need, the National Community College Cybersecurity Fellowship Program introduces participants for a career path teaching cybersecurity in a community college. Participants will gain experience creating lesson plans and syllabi, leading a classroom, and more.
Two options are available:
- Final-Year Students and Recent Graduates: Open to college/university students in their final year of or recently graduated (within a year) from a bachelor or master’s degree program in cybersecurity or STEM fields. Visit our Fellowship Program Student webpage for more information.
- Industry Professionals and Former Military: Open to industry professionals and former military with cybersecurity experience. Must also have completed or in final year of a bachelor’s/master’s in cybersecurity or STEM. Visit our Fellowship Program Industry/Military webpage for more information.
Community and technical college faculty are also needed to mentor a 2025 Fellow during Fall 2025. Visit bit.ly/FellowshipMentor to learn more.
Externships
This project aims to help incumbent faculty update their technical skills and gain current workplace knowledge, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding of the workplace, work roles, and projects their students will encounter. By integrating this insight into teaching, faculty can better prepare graduates for in-demand cybersecurity careers. Visit our Externship webpage for more information.
Virtual one-hour webinars are hosted monthly on a variety of timely cybersecurity topics. Visit the NCyTE’s Monthly Membership Meetings webpage to access past topics, recordings, and related materials.
